Professional Tutor in Music (0.6 FTE) - Fixed-Term - Ref: 2AMUS31
This role will be fixed term/limited duration for 12 months in the first instance and may become permanent in the future depending on student numbers.
However, it is important that colleagues are aware that unfortunately there is no guarantee that the roles will become permanent. As such, applicants should understand their employment with the University may be at risk at the end of the 12-month period if the work is no longer required (due to insufficient student numbers or another substantial reason) or if they do not secure an alternative permanent role at the University within this period. The University would consider if student numbers were sufficiently strong to justify the positions becoming open-ended at that point.
We welcome applications for the fixed-term role of Professional Tutor in Music. The successful candidate will have a proven record of teaching musicological courses that touch upon a wide range of genres, including Western art music, popular music, and global music traditions, as well as an ability to teach music analysis and theory.
The successful will be expected to delivery of provision across the Music subject area, with particular focus on musicology-aimed courses that develop students' critical thinking and writing skills. The successful candidate will be expected to supervise students' undergraduate dissertations, they will have the ability to support students both academically and pastorally. The appointed candidate will be representing the university by engaging in recruitment activities, such as leading multiple Open Day Subject talks.
