Project: The Longitudinal Relationships of Digital and Non-digital Play with Children's Executive Functions and Creativity Development
The project team are seeking a Research Assistant (Grade 6) to support a two-year project examining the role of digital and non-digital play in the development of children’s executive functions and creativity.
This project is funded by a Small Research Grant award in partnership with the British Academy and the Wellcome Trust, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to contemporary research in developmental psychology and education. The Research Assistant will receive training and ongoing guidance from the project team, led by Dr. Wing Kai Fung (Senior Lecturer in Early Childhood) and Dr. Pinar Oztop (Senior Lecturer in Psychology).
Role and Responsibilities
The Research Assistant will work closely with the project’s Principal and Co-Investigators to provide support across several stages of the research process, including:
- Online survey preparation
- Participant recruitment (e.g., through schools, early years parent groups)
- Data collection and administration (e.g., participant compensation - e-voucher)
- Data curation and organisation
- Data analysis (quantitative and/or qualitative)
- Contribute to report/research write-up and dissemination
Payment
- A total of 15 days in Year 1 and 15 days in Year 2 (30 days across the two-year project), with flexible scheduling within project needs
- Hourly rate of £18.13 to £20.71per hour (Grade 6)
Person Specification
Essential:
- Background in Psychology (final year undergraduate or postgraduate level preferred)
- Experience with research methods, data handling, and analysis
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Desirable:
- Prior research project experience
- Skills in data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, Jasp, R, Jamovi)
