Clearing becomes available between July and October. It is available to those wishing to start their undergraduate studies in September 2025, who are yet to secure a place at university.
If there are any places left on our courses, Clearing presents a chance for you to apply with Hope. So if you don’t currently have an offer - or if you’ve missed the offers that you did have - this is your chance to find your place at university.
When is Clearing open?
The dates for this year's Clearing will be available soon.
Who can use Clearing?
People who have already applied to go to university this September will have been given offers that are usually dependent on getting certain grades on Results Day on August 14th. If you do not end up getting the grades needed, or have changed your mind on your university, location or course, you can apply for a place through Clearing.
Some people might already know they want to go through Clearing - perhaps if they did not receive any offers from the universities they applied for.
Even if you have not applied to university in the last year, if you believe it to be an option for you, give us a ring and we can chat through your options.

I don’t know if I am ready to study at a University level/I have not studied for a long time, can you help?
We have a range of Degrees with Foundation Year. Foundation years are covered within your student loan. These courses have been created to offer a bridge between level 3 and year one of a university course. Degrees with Foundation Year all have a study skills strand that provide academic skills for the next three years of your degree.
I will need to live in Halls of Residence, is this still available?
We guarantee accommodation for all our first-year and foundation-year students. If you are made an offer, we will guide you through the easy booking process. If you would like to view our accommodation in advance, please click the Accommodation tab on the left-hand side of the page.
Will I be the only student coming through Clearing onto my course?
You don’t need to have any concerns about coming to university through Clearing. Many successful students come through this route.
I am unsure which course is right for me, can you advise me?
Contact our Clearing Hub on 0151 291 3636 and our team will look at your previous qualifications, talk to you about future aspirations and make suggestions on what may be suitable for you.
Will I still get student finance even though I am a clearing student?
If you have confirmed your place through the Clearing process and haven’t applied for student finance, you need to apply right away. Apply via the GOV.UK website now.
If you’ve already applied for student finance but your course or university have changed, you need to update your details to ensure you receive the correct amount you are entitled to. You can do this by logging into your student finance online account.
