Clearing opens between July and October, and offers a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to start an undergraduate degree in September 2025 but hasn't yet secured a place at university.
If we still have places available on our courses, you'll be able to apply to study with us through Clearing. Whether you didn't receive any offers, didn't meet the conditions of your original offers, or simply had a change of heart - Clearing is your chance to take the next step towards university life.
When does Clearing open?
Clearing will open on Saturday 5 July, 2025.
Who can use Clearing?
Clearing is open to a range of students, including:
- Those who applied earlier in the year but didn't get the results needed for their offers on Results Day (Thursday 14 August 2025)
- Anyone who has changed their mind about the course or the university they originally applied to
- Students who didn't apply during the main UCAS cycle, but are now thinking university might be the right path for them
If you're unsure whether Clearing is right for you, don't worry, just give us a call. We'll be happy to talk through your options and help you with our next steps.
How do you apply through Clearing?
We'll be sharing step-by-step guidance on how to apply through Clearing very soon.
Do your research and be prepared. Take some time to explore our website - it's packed with information about our courses, campuses, and accommodation. You can even book a campus tour to see our beautiful campuses for yourself and get a feel for life at Hope.
Have your details ready. When it's time to get in touch, make sure you've got your ley information to hand, such as your UCAS ID number, phone number, and details of your qualifications. It'll help things move along quickly.
We’re here to help! We know this can feel like a stressful time, but you're not alone. Many of us have been through it too, and we really do understand what it's like. No question is too small, so don't hesitate to reach out - we're always happy to help.
Speak to your teachers. They've helped students through Clearing before and can offer great advice about your next steps. Don't be afraid to ask for their guidance - they're a great resource during this time.
I know the grades I am predicted are not what I am going to get, what should I do?
Sometimes things don’t always go to plan, that's why our Clearing Team are on hand to help. No need to wait until Results Day, contact us today on 0151 291 3111 and we will discuss your options with you.
I don’t know if I am ready to study at a University level/I have not studied for a long time, can you help?
We have a range of Degrees with Foundation Year. Foundation years are covered within your student loan. These courses have been created to offer a bridge between level 3 and year one of a university course. Degrees with Foundation Year all have a study skills strand that provide academic skills for the next three years of your degree.
I will need to live in Halls of Residence, is this still available?
We guarantee accommodation for all our first-year and foundation-year students. If you are made an offer, we will guide you through the easy booking process. If you would like to view our accommodation in advance, please visit the dedicated Accommodation webpages.
Will I be the only student coming through Clearing onto my course?
You don’t need to have any concerns about coming to university through Clearing. Many successful students come through this route.
I am unsure which course is right for me, can you advise me?
Contact our Clearing Hub on 0151 291 3111 and our team will look at your previous qualifications, talk to you about future aspirations and make suggestions on what may be suitable for you.
Will I still get student finance even though I am a clearing student?
If you have confirmed your place through the Clearing process and haven’t applied for student finance, you need to apply right away. Apply via the GOV.UK website now.
If you’ve already applied for student finance but your course or university have changed, you need to update your details to ensure you receive the correct amount you are entitled to. You can do this by logging into your student finance online account.
