Subject Knowledge Enhancement (SKE)

Subject Knowledge Enhancement (SKE) courses are designed to help potential Initial Teacher Training (ITT) trainees gain the depth of knowledge needed to train to teach their chosen subject.

The SKE courses are designed for students due to embark on their Initial Teacher Training (ITT) who need to strengthen their existing subject knowledge.

If you have received your offer letter for an ITT course and you have to complete an SKE as a condition, please contact us at ske@hope.ac.uk for further information and guidance.

Subjects and course durations available from October 2024

Mathematics - 8, 12, 16, 20,24, 28 week

Spanish - 8, 12, 16, 20, 24 28 week

French - 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28 week

Chemistry - 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28 week

Physics - 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28 week

Computer Science - 8, 16, 20, 24 28 week

Our online SKE programmes are delivered via a distance-learning platform.

If you have to complete an SKE as a condition of offer and would like to register onto one of our programmes, you can choose from one of the following start dates:

Full time (25 hours of learning per week)

  • Wednesday 1st January
  • Wednesday 5th February
  • Wednesday 5th March (8, 12, 16, 20, 24 week only )
  • Wednesday 2nd April (8, 12, 16, 20 week only)
  • Wednesday 7th May (8, 12, 16 week only)
  • Wednesday 4th June (12 and 8 week only)
  • Wednesday 2nd July (8 week only)

Part time (12.5 hours of learning per week)
