POLITICS

Study a Politics degree that explores how power shapes society, influences decision-making and responds to the biggest challenges facing the UK and the wider world. At Liverpool Hope University, you'll examine political ideas, institutions and public policy while developing the skills to understand and evaluate today's fast-changing political landscape.

This Politics course combines academic study with practical experience, encouraging you to debate contemporary issues, analyse political events and develop evidence-based arguments. Through policy briefs, simulations and authentic assessments, you'll build the research, communication and critical thinking skills valued by employers.

You'll learn from academics whose expertise spans British, European, and American politics amongst others, political theory, comparative politics and public policy. Small class sizes mean you'll work closely with your lecturers, contribute confidently to discussion and receive personalised support throughout your degree.

Beyond the classroom, you'll have opportunities to engage with politicians, policymakers and public sector professionals through the Practitioners in Politics and International Relations series and other external opportunities, helping you understand how politics works in practice while building valuable professional networks.

If you want to study Politics and make a difference in society, this degree provides the knowledge and confidence to shape your future.

SOCIOLOGY

Sociology is the study of how society is organised. It looks at how this organisation influences individual attitudes and behaviors. It also examines the impact on social relationships within and between societies. Sociology studies both the current state of the social world and its changes. It explores how people can create positive change.

This degree promotes critical thinking on key issues. These include inequalities, climate change, feminism, social media, AI, racism, poverty, and social justice. You will gain the knowledge and skills to become a change-maker.

Our Sociology degree combines social theory, research methods, and comparisons of different societies. It helps you question common-sense assumptions by addressing personal, local, national, and global issues. You'll gain real-world experience in applying theory and using research methods. You can also focus on social issues that interest you through individual projects.

In line with Liverpool Hope’s commitment to social justice, Sociology seeks to understand modern social issues. It challenges conventional wisdom and emphasises the need for change. Graduates can pursue careers in various industries that require strong interpersonal, research, and creative skills.
