Curriculum Overview
The Masters is delivered through three 60 credit blocks. Each block represents c 70 hours of taught content, normally within 2-hour sessions. The first two blocks are each divided into 4 x 15 credit Modules. Four Modules are taught in each 10-week term, with one Reflection week per term. The third 60 credit block will usually comprise the student undertaking training in a research dissertation, based on individual and professional interest.
Each teaching session includes lecture, seminar and interactive workshop elements. You will usually have one formal summative assessment at the end of each Module. In addition, students are expected to read and prepare for several formative assessments throughout the Module. Students will have 8 hours of taught sessions per week, with an expectation of a further 30 hours per week, of personal study, reading and assessment preparation.
The sessions are taught by members of Liverpool Hope Business School’s senior academic staff, augmented by visiting lecturers, from local and regional businesses, with experience in implementing various business practices. There are, also, occasional fieldwork visits to local companies and other institutions across the Liverpool city region.

Term One Common Core Modules
Global Human Resource Management Practice and Organisational Behaviour
The module develops functional knowledge and critical understanding of key perspectives on human behaviour in the workplace. It focuses on processes of organising, leading, planning and managing human activity, in business settings. The module considers core organisational HRM policy and practice.
Leading with Purpose
This module equips students with the knowledge and skills to lead organisations with purpose, aligning leadership strategies with organisational values, ethics, and societal impact. Through theory and practice, students will understand how to mobilize teams towards meaningful and sustainable goals.
Strategic Management
This module provides an opportunity to reflect on contemporary issues surrounding strategic management. Through critical insight and outlook, the topics will enable an understanding and critical examination of current and relevant challenges faced by organisations.
International Marketing in the Digital Age
The module provides an overview of international marketing strategies and practices, that businesses face when operating in the global marketplace. Students will learn to develop, implement, and manage marketing strategies related to international trade, cultural differences, and global market trends.
Term Two Specialist Modules
Principles of International Project Management
This module offers a comprehensive overview of project management principles, emphasising their application in international and large-scale contexts. Students will learn to align project goals with organisational strategies, ensuring long-term success, while enhancing team collaboration and accountability. Key topics include the project lifecycle, covering planning, resource allocation, risk management, and stakeholder engagement. Practical tools and methodologies will be introduced to monitor project progress, ensuring delivery within scope, time, and budget constraints. Students will develop skills to assess outcomes using performance indicators and feedback mechanisms, applying lessons to future projects. By module completion, learners will possess a strong foundation to navigate complex, global, and multi-disciplinary project environments effectively.
Project Management Execution and Implementation in a Global Environment
In today’s fast-changing global business environment, organisations face immense pressure to adapt, innovate, and compete. With multinational companies managing projects in several countries simultaneously, the complexities of international project delivery demand project managers who can navigate diverse cultural and geographical challenges effectively. Success in such contexts requires a profound understanding of how to align projects with organisational strategies while addressing the unique demands of international environments. The ability to deliver impactful results has become critical for ensuring organisational survival and competitiveness. This module is designed to develop students’ critical thinking and decision-making abilities by exploring the strategic and project management approaches needed for success in varying cultural and national contexts. By focusing on these essential skills, students will be well-equipped to manage the complexities of international projects in a dynamic, globalised world.
International Project Management Practice
This module provides a comprehensive overview of project management for managing diverse and complex projects. Students will learn tools and techniques for predictive and adaptive projects, emphasising strategic alignment with organisational goals. Key topics include project design, planning, budgeting, international financial and contractual management, and quality and change control. The module covers linear, iterative, and evolutionary project lifecycles, alongside core techniques such as resource scheduling, critical path analysis, and benefits management. Students will gain skills in risk management, change control, and progress tracking to handle challenges effectively. By the end, they will be equipped to lead global, multi-disciplinary projects confidently.
Project Management in the Digital Era
This module focuses on equipping students with practical skills and theoretical knowledge essential for managing digital transformation projects effectively in modern organisational settings. It emphasises the critical role of technology and IT in contemporary project management, exploring emerging technologies and essential IT competencies. Students will gain insights into how these tools can be applied to enhance project outcomes in today’s dynamic, technology-driven environments. Hands-on experience is a core component, enabling students to utilize advanced computing technologies such as data analysis, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital collaboration tools. These technologies are integrated into project planning, execution, and monitoring processes to streamline workflows and improve project performance. By providing a robust framework of tools and techniques, this module prepares students to address the complexities of digital transformation, empowering them to leverage technology for innovation and successful project delivery in a fast-paced and dynamic business world.
Term 3: Consultancy Project or a Research Dissertation
Drawing upon the skills and knowledge developed in the first two semesters, students will complete either a Consultancy Project or a Research Dissertation. Preparation for the Project starts at the outset of the programme, during the induction activities. Students will be expected to draw on their own work experience and, if possible, their own relationships with employers or former employers to discuss and develop their Research Projects. While they are studying during the second semester, they develop their proposal further in discussion with tutors, and they also study the compulsory Research Methods course. In doing so, students will study specific research articles and case studies (including from an international context) to critique and analyse, which will influence and help shape their own approach to the dissertation or consultancy project. This will include the collection from both primary and secondary data sources and the application of both qualitative and quantitative (and mixed) methodologies.
Entry Requirements
A minimum of a Second-Class Honours degree in a relevant discipline awarded by a UK university, or an equivalent higher education qualification.
