ART HISTORY

Do you ever wonder why art, design or architecture looks the way it does? Do you enjoy visiting museums and galleries, and learning about the objects on display? Are you curious about the historical and cultural contexts that shaped these artefacts? If so, a degree in Art History is for you. This degree provides graduates with a systematic understanding of the methods art historians use to analyse visual images and objects, as well as methods and processes of making and analysis of material culture.

In your three years, you'll explore art and visual culture from a wide historical range. You'll focus on modern and contemporary art. Hope’s partnership with Tate Liverpool and National Museums Liverpool enriches the course. You'll hear from guest speakers in the museum field. You'll also get access to Liverpool’s best art collections. The course focuses on critical thinking and visual literacy. It explores different approaches and theories in art history.

EARLY CHILDHOOD

The Early Childhood degree builds advanced knowledge about young children. This Early Childhood course covers child development, interactions, and the effects of local and global inequalities. It prepares you to advocate for young children's needs and rights.

This Early Childhood degree provides a supportive learning environment. You'll get expert guidance, access to university resources, and teaching from a diverse team with experience in research, practice, and policy. Your learning includes guest speakers and field visits in Liverpool, a city rich in community and culture.

The Early Childhood course is taught by academics from sociology, education, philosophy, and psychology. They are active researchers who publish widely and attend national and international conferences. Their expertise creates a challenging, research-informed setting.

For single honours students, the early childhood degree has a required placement to apply theory in a professional setting. For combined honours students, the placement is optional.
