Student Placements

We work closely with employers and voluntary organisations to offer our students and graduates bespoke internship and placement opportunities.

Here at Hope, we recognise the importance of gaining work experience alongside your studies. All our courses now offer you the opportunity to gain experience as part of your course, either through integrated placements - Social Work, Initial Teacher Training, and Sports Rehabilitation - or by undertaking a Placement Year as part of your degree.

We also source bespoke, course-related, extra-curricular opportunities through our Placement and Internship Programme, so you have access to a range of work experience opportunities to suit your personal interests and career objectives.

With so much on offer, there will be something to suit your long-term ambitions. To see the latest opportunities, visit our Placements page.

Placement Year

Undertaking a structured Placement Year offers you the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of the workplace as part of your degree. All our undergraduate degree programmes* offer the opportunity to include an integrated placement year between year two and three of your degree.

Completing a Placement Year will give you the competitive edge when it comes to applying for graduate jobs, as you’ll be gaining valuable experience to help you stand out from the crowd. We advertise a range of technical, commercial and research Placement Year roles, and will support you fully throughout the search and application process and beyond.

With an increasing number of paid opportunities on offer to undergraduates, and with stronger links between undergraduate experience and graduate recruitment, there has never been a better time to consider completing a Placement Year as part of your degree.

“In today’s competitive graduate recruitment market, work experience schemes have become an integral part of recruiting new graduates. Once a placement has been successfully completed, recruiters are able to offer students a graduate position, often a full year before they are due to leave university” - The Graduate Market in 2020: High Fliers Research

Placement and Internship Programme

We work closely with local employers to offer bespoke internships through our Placement and Internship Programme, so if you’re looking for work experience but prefer a shorter placement there are plenty of course-related extra-curricular opportunities on offer at Hope.

Our opportunities vary each year, and every role is created by the business to suit their real-world needs and to provide you a unique professional experience.

Recent Placement and Internship Programme roles have included Law Clinic Adviser, Social Media Consultant, Sports Coach, Finance Intern, HR Intern, Health Trainer, Designer and Reading Assistant.
