National Student Survey 2024
The annual National Student Survey (NSS) is a census of all final year undergraduate students in the UK, offering a chance to provide feedback on their student experience at Hope.
This survey gives you the opportunity to tell us about your course and share your experiences of your time at Hope. This is really important to us as your feedback helps us to shape the University and improve the student experience.
To encourage you to complete the survey, Liverpool Hope University is offering the following prizes: 3 x Summer Graduation bundles worth £200 covering the cost of gown hire, two additional guest tickets, a basic photography package and a graduation lunch package for all ticketed guests to be awarded randomly to students who enter the online survey prize draw before midnight on 31 March 2024. A cash alternative cannot be substituted for the prize. The winners will be notified by email from the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor and Provost on Monday 15th April. The results will be announced in the student bulletin by Wednesday 18th April.
Are you eligible to complete the survey?
All students studying on courses leading to undergraduate credits or qualifications which are longer than one-year full-time study are eligible to complete the survey. You can check the NSS eligibility criteria by visiting the National Student Survey website.
If you still have questions surrounding your eligibility to complete the survey, you should speak to your personal tutor in the first instance.
How and when do you take part?
Eligible students will be sent the link to complete the survey from the University on Monday 29th January 2024. Ipsos will make contact with students regarding the survey on Thursday 1st February 2024. The survey will formally close on Tuesday 30th April 2024.
We will have three University level prizes which will be drawn on Monday 15th April 2024. Details of the prizes can be found by clicking here.
How long does it take to complete?
The survey questions will focus on your course experience and will take approximately five minutes to complete online. There are 28 core questions. You can take a look at the NSS questions here. The key topics covered are also outlined below.
We would also welcome you taking extra time to answer the question at the end of the survey. Here you can include further comments about what feature or facility at Hope has provided the best support for your learning experience.
What will the survey cover?
You will be asked to indicate your level of agreement with a series of questions on the following topics:
- Teaching on my course
- Learning opportunities
- Assessment and Feedback
- Academic Support
- Organisation and Management
- Learning Resources
- Student voice
- Mental wellbeing services
- Freedom of expression
You will also have the opportunity to provide comments on your learning experience as a whole at your institution.
Is the survey confidential?
Your responses to the survey are strictly confidential, and all responses are anonymised before they are made available to the University.
Read Ipsos MORI’s Privacy Statement for the NSS.
Inappropriate Influence
The NSS should reflect what you think about your course. It's important that your university or college doesn't do anything that could influence your response. We recommend reading the inappropriate influence guide before completing the survey.
