The Greening Markets Research Group (www.greeningmarkets.org) explores green market growth and actively assists environmentally conscious organizations. The group is run by Rev Dr Tony Bradley and Dr Curtis Ziniel. It is dedicated to furthering the understanding of how and why markets and organizations change to become more environmentally conscientious. Their research examines individual, organizational, and societal influences. They also work to assist like-minded organizations and are eager to share our findings with those who would find them useful.
Civil Society’s Contribution to Sustainable Development
One of the main challenges facing nations seeking to cut their emissions of carbon pollutant greenhouse gases (GHG) is the engagement of civil society in this process. Research by Tony Bradley (2022) has made a significant step toward the measurement, monitoring and monetising of the value of civil society environmental engagement. Within the Greening Markets Research Group, we have made progress in mapping the interrelated changes in political and consumption sphere social movements, connected to the greening of SME businesses (Bradley & Ziniel, 2017; Ziniel & Bradley, 2019; Bradley et al, 2021). The significance of this baseline research is to open a new field which can impact the way in which global transfer payments are made, under the terms of what is known as Paris Protocol 6.8 / 6.9.
The Greening Markets Research Group, together with Liverpool Hope Business School, will be hosting a colloquium in the summer of 2023 to bring together many of the international Governmental/NGO agencies and large-scale corporations that will be significant decision-makers and advocates for the approach to voluntary contributions outlined by our baseline research, related to protocols emerging from the COP process. This offers the prospect of making a significant contribution to decision-making surrounding global transfer payments from the North and West to the global South and East.
