The UK's pioneering BA (Hons) Social Media Influencing degree is designed for the next generation of content creators, influencers, digital storytellers and social media professionals.
If you love creating videos, taking photos, building online communities or coming up with ideas for TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, this course gives you the skills to take your creativity further. You'll learn how to create engaging content while developing your knowledge of social media strategy, digital marketing, branding, audience engagement and analytics.
Based in Liverpool, one of the UK's most creative and culturally vibrant cities, you'll work across a range of social media platforms and emerging digital channels. You'll develop practical skills in video production, photography, storytelling, editing, branding and campaign creation, while exploring how social media, algorithms, trends and online communities influence what people see, share and engage with.
You won't just study social media – you'll create it. Through practical projects, live industry briefs and professional placements, you'll gain real-world experience and build a professional portfolio of content and campaigns before you graduate.

Foundation Year
The Foundation Year is a great opportunity if you have the ability and enthusiasm to study for a degree, but do not yet have the qualifications required to enter directly onto our degree programmes. A significant part of the Foundation Year focuses upon core skills such as academic writing at HE level, becoming an independent learner, structuring academic work, critical thinking, time management and note taking.
Successful completion of the Foundation Year will enable you to progress into the first year (Level C) of your chosen honours degree. Further details can be found here.

What can you do with a social media degree? A lot more than becoming an influencer.
Social media and the creator economy are changing the way brands, businesses and organisations communicate with their audiences. This degree gives you the creative, strategic and digital skills to build a career across content creation, influencer marketing, social media, digital marketing and the wider creative industries.
You could become a Content Creator, Influencer, Social Media Manager, Digital Marketing Executive, Influencer Marketing Executive, Creative Strategist, Community Manager, Brand Manager or Talent Manager. You could also work freelance, build your own personal brand, launch a creator business or develop your own digital venture.
Throughout the course, you'll build a professional portfolio and gain practical experience through industry projects, live briefs and placements. You'll develop skills in video and photography, storytelling, editing, social media marketing, audience growth, analytics, campaign management, branding, influencer partnerships and digital entrepreneurship.
Importantly, you don't have to become an influencer to benefit from studying social media influencing. The skills you develop can be used behind the scenes to create campaigns, manage social media accounts, work with creators, grow online communities or develop digital marketing strategies for organisations and brands.
The degree also provides a strong foundation for postgraduate study in areas such as Digital Marketing, Media and Communication, Creative Industries and Marketing Management.
By the time you graduate, you'll have real-world experience, a professional portfolio and the creative and strategic skills to build your future in the digital economy.

Tuition fees
The tuition fees for the 2026/27 academic year are £9,790 for full-time undergraduate courses.*
If you are a student from the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands, your tuition fees will also be £9,790.
The tuition fees for the 2027/28 academic year will be £10,050 for full-time undergraduate courses.*
If you are a student from the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands, your tuition fees will also be £10,050
The University reserves the right to increase Home and EU Undergraduate and PGCE tuition fees in line with any inflationary or other increase authorised by the Secretary of State for future years of study.
Home students (UK)
*Tuition fees are subject to inflation-linked increases in line with government policy. Updated fees will be confirmed in line with the maximum fee cap set by the Government or the Office for Students (OfS) for each academic year. This means your fee may increase for each academic year of study, but only up to the maximum amount permitted for that year.
Eligible UK students can apply to the Government for a tuition loan, which is paid direct to the University. This has a low interest-rate which is charged from the time the first part of the loan is paid to the University until you have repaid it.
