National Student Survey 2025
The annual National Student Survey (NSS) is a census of all final year undergraduate students in the UK, offering a chance to provide feedback on their student experience at Hope. This webpage has been created to combine the arrangements in place for the 2025 survey at Hope.
Details about the launch of the NSS at Hope
The survey will launch at Hope on Monday 20th January 2025. The survey will be open to final year students on courses leading to undergraduate credits or qualifications which are longer than one-year full-time study. A link to complete the survey will be sent to all students on this date. Ipsos will then make contact with students on Thursday 23rd January 2025.
You can check the NSS eligibility criteria, and if you still have questions surrounding a student and their eligibility to complete the survey, you should make contact with pearceh@hope.ac.uk who can check this for you.
We will have three University level prizes, which will be drawn on Monday 14th April 2025. The three prizes will be:
3 x Summer graduation bundles worth £200 covering the cost of gown hire, two additional guest tickets, a basic photography package and a graduation lunch package for all ticketed guests.
Communication plan
The NSS Focus Group have agreed a communication plan to formally launch the survey across all teaching sites. You can view this plan here - National Student Survey 2025 - Communications Plan
Inappropriate influence
You may wish to talk to students about the National Student Survey (NSS) and its scope. When doing so, it is important that you do not inappropriately influence the responses students may give. All providers must adhere to the guidance on inappropriate influence regardless if they choose to promote the survey or not.
Please familiarise yourself with the inappropriate influence guide and speak to your Head of School if you have any questions.
National details
The 2025 NSS opens nationally on Wednesday 8th January 2025 and closes on Wednesday 30th April 2025. Eligible students can complete the survey as of this date on the NSS website.
What does the survey cover?
Students will be asked to indicate their level of agreement with a series of questions on the following topics:
- Teaching on my course
- Learning opportunities
- Assessment and Feedback
- Academic Support
- Organisation and Management
- Learning Resources
- Student voice
- Mental wellbeing services
- Freedom of expression
- Students will then also have the opportunity to provide comments on your learning experience as a whole at your institution.
