Library staff are committed to providing all our users with high quality services and facilities, but we can only achieve this in partnership with you.
Please help us to help you make the most of library services and facilities. The charter describes the expectations and responsibilities of both parties.

Library Rules and Regulations
The Library rules and regulations cover the expected conduct of everybody who uses the library. It details our rules in relation to:
- Accessing the library and using its resources
- Respecting your learning environment
- Protecting and updating your data
- Financial and legal matters
- The use of IT facilities
- Our notice on inappropriate behaviour
The Library Donations Policy
The Library welcomes donations from staff and students under certain circumstances. Please read our donations policy before contacting us to donate books.
The Library Services Plan
Working with Library Steering, the Library team has created a plan to cover the period 2025-2028. The plan provides the vision, values and key themes that will shape the development and enhancement of Library Services. The vision of the plan is as follows;
The Library will be valued by the Hope Community as a trusted, welcoming and inclusive provider of knowledge, services and spaces in support of teaching, learning and research. It will actively engage and listen to its different communities to design, deliver and adapt its services to enable Hope staff, students and partners to succeed.
The key themes are:
- The Library’s direction and priorities will be closely aligned and shaped by the University strategy.
- The Library will be outward facing and informed by sector developments.
- The Library will work in close collaboration with its partners and different communities to inform its planning and priorities.
- The plan will be kept under continuous review and will be adapted to changing external environment.
- The Hope values will be embedded in the delivery of the Plan.
- The Plan will be sustainable and aligned with Hope’s approach to equality, diversity and inclusion
Information Literacy Framework
The Academic Services Librarians have produced an Information Literacy Framework to ensure that vital library skills are taught to all students at all levels and locations. The framework allows the Academic Services Librarians to offer a ramped approach from level F to Masters, or to offer bespoke sessions within this range. Academic Services Librarians liaise with tutors to ensure delivery of these sessions occurs at the optimum time within the curriculum.
Special Collections and Archives
Special Collections and Archives collects, cares for and makes accessible unique and distinctive collections for the benefit of present and future generations. The principles that guide this purpose are detailed in the following documents:
