Introduction to the Role of SENCO
This course is aimed at those educational professionals who are interested in developing knowledge of the SENCO role. This short non accredited programme aims to provide an initial insight into the operational and strategic role of the SENCo. The course will provide opportunities for participants to reflect upon their own school/ settings and might provide a useful resource for those participants who are considering further training to enable them to become SENCOs in the future. Note: this is not a NPQ for SENCo programme of study.
The programme of study will reflect on the English Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice.
Delivery: online via zoom
Dates and Times: All sessions take places on a Tuesday evening, 5-7pm.

Audience: Deputy/ Head Teachers, Teachers, Teaching Assistants and Learning Support Assistants.
Entry Requirements: To be accepted onto the course, you will need to meet the following criteria:
• Worked in a mainstream English school for at least 1 year.
• Be currently employed as one of the following in an English mainstream school: teacher, deputy/ headteacher, teaching assistant, learning support assistant.
• Hold a degree.
