Project Management Framework

The University’s Project Management Framework has been updated to provide a more practical and user-friendly approach to managing projects across the institution.

While it retains the core principles of the existing framework, this revised version has been designed with usability in mind and should make it easier for teams to apply.

Approved by the University Executive Board (UEB), the framework sets out a clear, structured process for managing projects from initial business case or proposal through to successful project closure. It ensures that every stage of the project lifecycle is supported with clear guidance and defined expectations.

Recognising that not all projects are the same, the framework outlines different levels of project management based on project value and complexity. This ensures that the approach provides the right level of governance.

The framework also defines approval pathways and reporting requirements, helping to ensure transparency, accountability, and informed decision-making throughout the project.

To support implementation, a suite of templates is provided, each accompanied by simple, practical examples. These resources are designed to help teams apply the framework with confidence and consistency, regardless of their level of project management experience.
