Global Hope
Global Hope is the University’s International volunteering programme, that provides Liverpool Hope students and staff with the opportunity to engage in projects addressing sustainable development goals overseas.
Global Hope gives students and staff the opportunity to engage with the ever growing Hope community by working with close partners on projects around the world. It is an award-winning programme with recognition from the Josephine Butler Foundation Trust.
What does volunteering on a Global Hope project involve?
The Global Hope team organises several projects every year, with a variety of volunteering opportunities that addresses sustainable development goals. Projects run at Easter and in the Summer for 3-4 weeks, working with Global Hope’s project partners. Projects can range from engaging in community activities, to working with disadvantaged children.
Global Hope is part of the Service and Leadership Award (SALA), students must apply to SALA to take part in a Global Hope project. Being part of a Global Hope Project helps with many of the tasks for SALA, and provides you with a unique experience while you complete them.
Staff and students from Hope travel together to project locations each year or host local projects.
How is it funded?
Global Hope is funded by the University, and through participant contributions. In order to participate on a project, students must normally raise a minimum contribution of £1,500 for their project. The amount may vary depending on the location of the project, to take into account differences in air fares. The Global Hope team offer workshops to help students in their fund raising effort and have a fundraising assistant dedicated to helping individuals reach the target.
