Student route visa (previously Tier 4)

This is a visa for students studying on full-time undergraduate degree level programmes, and full, or part-time, postgraduate programmes. Applicants need to score 70 points to be eligible for a visa. 50 of these points are awarded for having a valid CAS number (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies). 10 points are awarded for holding the required maintenance funds, and 10 points for meeting the English language requirement. Please see the UKVI website for further information.

What is a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)

A CAS is a unique 14 digit long reference number, provided to the University by the UKVI via an online database, when we have provided them with information about you, and your intended studies. You will need a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) number to submit with your visa application to the UKVI, as they use this number to identify your information. A CAS can only be used once.

How do I get my CAS number?

Before we can proceed with a CAS request, you need to have done the following:

  • accepted your offer to study at Liverpool Hope
  • met any outstanding academic conditions (including English language ability)
  • paid your non-refundable tuition fee deposit, or have provided evidence of financial sponsorship/federal loan.

At this point your application will be referred to our Compliance Review Panel who will consider your CAS request further. Please note that we cannot guarantee that we will be able to issue you with a CAS number.

For full details, visit the your CAS number page.

Additional notes

Please remember that it is your responsibility to apply for and receive your visa in time to start your course. The University recommends that you apply for your visa three months before the start of your course. Visa offices are extremely busy in July and August, and in December and January, so it is important to give yourself plenty of time.
