University Purchasing Card
Purchasing cards can help reduce the processes and paperwork usually involved with low-value / ad-hoc transactions, making the payments process easier and quicker for the University and suppliers.
Advice, guidance and procedural information on using purchasing cards is available here: -Purchasing Card - Manual and User guide
Using your University Purchasing Card - Dos and Don'ts
Information on what your card can be used for is contained within the above purchasing card manual and user guide, but in general your card should only be used for:
- For genuine business expenditure which is reasonable and appropriate to incur.
- To pay for low value purchases (less than £250) with suppliers who will only be used as a one-off or infrequently.
- To pay for incidental travel and subsistence expenses incurred overseas (to save having to carry large amounts of cash or submitting a travel expense claim).
- To purchase goods and services from contracted or preferred suppliers via an online booking system, e.g. for purchasing rail tickets via the University’s travel management company.
- For one-off purchases, such as conference registrations.
